MailWasher Pro version 6.53 released

We're pleased to release version 6.53 of MailWasher Pro with two new features.

The two main new features are:

a) Importing of users passwords at setup from their email program so it's easier to setup (so many people don't know what their email password is) and..

b) MailWasher attempts to turn off auto checking in the users email program, something which is required for MailWasher to work properly with the email program.

Plus there are a few small bug fixes.

Upgrading is as simple as installing this version over your current old version but step by step upgrade instructions are at http://www.firetrust.com/en/products/mailwasher-pro/upgrade

I've been using MW since before Nick became rich and famous - I even have a photo of JP (Nick's late cat). I've never had a problem with the program until yesterday when I updated to v. 6.5.3, and it's really strange - not terribly annoying (one click and it's gone), but strange.

Just for the record, when the program launched for the first time after installation of the update, I told it to use my existing settings.

Anyway, here's a screenshot of the problem:

Whenever I start a MWP session, as soon as MWP finishes checking whether there's mail on my server, the little Internet Explorer message window opens that tells me "scripts are usually safe".

Some additional info
1. I'm running WixXP SP3 with all the latest updates; the problem occurs on machines with both IE 6 and IE 7.
2. The window only appears once. As long as I don't close and re-open MWP, it's gone - no matter whether I've clicked "Yes" or "No". When I do close and restart MWP, it reappears every time.
3. It doesn't matter whether there's mail on my server or not.
4. Obviously, I've got the IE security setting "Allow active scripting" set to "Prompt". When I set it to "Enable", the message doesn't appear.
5. No matter whether I click "Yes" or "No", the window disappears and doesn't reappear unless I close and restart MWP.
6. IE is NOT my default browser; Firefox is. And in all in all of my Windows XP file and folder settings, everything is set to work with FF; no service or protocol opens IE.

What script is MWP trying to run, and why does the program hook to IE???

Help, please.

I have downloaded this new version (English) and I am going to check it. I will use it in an Windows XP Pro as JoeG.
I will come back here if I find same problem as JoeG. I hope I will not have any problem, because I have not so mix of IE versions in my PC. I only have IE 8 installed.
I have used MW Pro for several years, and never had any strange problem with any version I have used.

Thanks for the new version. The changes in this new version seems to be very usefull.

Hi again from Berlin,

With kind, speedy help from the MailWasher Pro Support Desk, I've got a reasonable (though not ideal) solution to my problem. The "trick" was to add www.firetrust.com to my list of trusted sites in IE.

Whatever MWP is looking for, it's still looking for it, but at least the little window doesn't appear anymore.

@Antonio -> Don't worry about the "Run javascript" popup. As I said, it didn't interfere with the program's operation in any way. It was just an extra click that I didn't like.

As I indicated, I've been using MWP happily for years. I can't wait for the new version to come out. I've looked around, and I haven't found anything that comes even close to MWP's effectiveness and efficiency in the War on Spam!

I have been using MailWasher Pro for years and think it is a GREAT program. However, one of the new main features in version 6.53 (importing of users passwords at setup from their email program) is terribly annoying and does not apply to web mail accounts. Moreover, I find the assertion that "so many people don't know what their email password is" irrelevant and arrogant.

I did not buy nor do I want MailWasher Pro to manage my email account passwords.

Please limit MailWasher Pro's efforts to its core mission: stopping spam before it gets to my computer.

We're just trying to make it easier for people to setup their email accounts, as our support team assert, so many users do not remember their email password because they don't need to enter it each time, unlike webmail users.

You only need to run the setup once, and then you can use Mailwasher to block your spam

Have used paid version of mailwasher pro for years. Always happy until last week, old version 6.3 started not deleting messages marked for delete and processed them through to Thunderbird. So checked you website, realized there was a new version of mwp and downloaded the update. Could not receive my messages, kept saying bad user name/password. So, downloaded full version and did a clean uninstall including cleaning out the registry. Now, it seems my user name/password is fine, but cannot download any messages still... error says that the server has intentionally disconnected before operation was completed. Please help.

Hi, I have updated to Windows 7 and all semes to be well with MWP, then I noticed that the sound I had specified for emails no longer worked and I cant seem to allocate a sound for 'new mail'. Any ideas? I do hope i am not not doing something stupid!!!

I used the free version of MW

I used the free version of MW for sometime and found it a helpful program. Last January I bought MWP and notice some delays (freezes) while I work. I suspect there is a conflict between programs somewhere. Now, the freezes are frequent (as many as 30 or more a day), and I have to restart my computer. I found a workaround for restarting the computer but it is not a smart one: I remove the mouse from the USB port then put it back right away. This helps unfreeze the mouse and keyboard. I can see the delay happening in slow motion as I switch from one task to another.

I may just have to go back to the Free version and see if the problem persists, which is a drag because I like MWP. Do you have an idea what the problem could be?
