Summer rolls on here in Christchurch. This makes it harder for us as it's a busy time because most of our customers are in the northern hemisphere.
So while people in the north are mostly likely inside in front of PC's, we also have to meet those demands. Taking a whole month off over Christmas is not really an option.

Work on EncryptUs continues (our email encryption software), and we're ever grateful to beta testers who give up their time to help us. We've just released a new beta which (fingers crossed) should work well.
Before the end of the month we'll give the html version of Mailwasher to early testers. It's pretty simple at this stage, just check mail, delete, wash mail, friends and blacklist. It's really just to get some early feedback to see what is important to users. Screenshot below.
Tech and things
Megaupload gets shutdown. I have to admit I only heard about Megaupload recently, but found out it was a huge operation. Our local media has some good coverage about this at http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/digital-living/6288082/NZ-residents-ar... Look at the size of the guys house! What surprised me was how compliant NZ authorities were to US demands. I'm sure these guys will fight their extradition to the end.

Windows 8 preview comes out in February along with a Windows App store. There's some interesting and very attractive things coming along with it. I have to say, we're getting a lot of users say they're switching to Mac's! (ok ok, the MailWasher for mac is coming soon). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_8
Meanwhile Microsoft, Google and IBM just announced record quarterly revenues - bazillions of dollars!
Google+ has 90 million users. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/2012/01/google-claims-90-million-goo... We signed up to Google+, but could never add any followers due to a longstanding bug which thousands of people complain about. Weird, you'd think they would make it a priority to fix it.

This is definitely a female orientated site, but I find myself surprisingly addicted. It's wildly popular and the format works very well. http://pinterest.com/ As a male, it's an interesting insight in to what women think about a lot.
As promised, here's a screenshot of html Mailwasher. Very simple at the moment and things about it will change as we get feedback and try different things. Don't take it as the final design, it's just better than a wireframe.
