Practical Computer Security

In Australia right now it's Fraud Fortnight 2008 which is a campaign of awareness focusing on scams that can deceive and seduce you. Personally I think we could all do with some more seduction, unless of course we are being scammed.

The Australian National Computer Emergency Response Team....phew, that's a mouthful....does that count as being seductive ? (AusCERT) has released a basic Microsoft PowerPoint presentation to assist organisations with providing introductory computer security awareness training to individuals.

Frankly I don't think this matters, whether you're a home user or not is irrelevant, the same rules should apply. So if you think you could do with some assistance and guidance on the basics, then check out their basic Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.

If you do not have a copy of Microsoft PowerPoint, fear not, you can down a small program that allows you to view, but not create PowerPoint presentations. It's a small download and free from Microsoft here.

Note to AusCERT : A PowerPoint presentation ? Really ? C'mon, surely you folk can provide such material in a better web based format that everyone could view without installing extra software. Welcome to the 1990's.
