One of the features currently missing in MailWasher 2010 is the ability to hide emails, and as it turns out, this wasn't such a good idea on our part and we have been suitably chastised.
However when people are made aware of another new feature in MailWasher, they tend to find it a more elegant solution to quickly making emails 'appear' and 'disappear'. This new feature is called Grouping.
The first thing you want to do is show the grouping bar. To do this you click "Quick Display" and select the option 'Show Grouping Bar'
You'll now see a new header bar just below your columns.
So now it's the choice of what columns you want to group by. A personal favourite of mine is to group by Account, so the first thing is to drag and drop the Account column into the Grouping Bar.

Now, when I have many emails showing in a lot of accounts, I can quickly expand or collapse that group by clicking on the small 'plus' and 'minus' symbols.
So now we try and put this to some good use. Keeping the Account column grouping, if I drag and drop the Status column into the Grouping Bar, I now have two groups. First it groups by account, then it groups by Status, so you can see the Spam, Good, and yet unknown emails are presented in their own group.
Another useful column to group by could be Classify. There's only three states the Classify column can be in: Spam, Good and Undetermined. You don't need to keep the grouping bar showing once you've got your desired layout set either, here's a grouping by Classify with the Grouping Bar removed (by clicking the option again in Quick Display)

Good to see the Grouping feature getting a plug! I myself was initially a bit bewildered to find that MWP 2010 didn't have the obvious hide / show messages function of earlier versions, for that function had been very important for me. But once I investigated more deeply I found that having my messages grouped by classification was actually better for my purposes than the original 'hide' function, so actually I have no need for the latter. In MWP 2010 the messages are all visible initially after a mail check, and actually that's useful because I can scan quickly through the 'good' messages just to see if any of those need reclassifying. Then I can click on the little '-' at top left of that group to minimize it and thus to hide all those 'good' messages. Then I can do my 'dirty' work on the remaining messages.
My only grouse about the 2010 version now is that it is, relatively speaking, a resource hog - and that is something that really does need work to make the program less so.

From my first try at the advice above, Grouping will work well as a replacement for hiding "good" & "friends" emails
It appears you can only have one Group View at a time so a Classification Group would be obvious when first checking
(currentlty use ACTION as sort in MP653 to check my clients IMAPS first up before they get them on their iphones)
However - then need to go back to Accounts/Status - so assume I just right click on Account Column, and drag Status up.
BONUS MW10 feature
The speed at which Outlook 2010 comes up for a "Quick reply" and "Quick forward" may make it the main mail interface,
which is probably Firetrust's intention.

Grouping does work, although if you have a group minimized it goes back to maximize if you restart the program (would be nice if it kept it's last state) Also if you enlarge the Font Size (which is nice for old eyes) then when minimized the group title gets cut off and is not very readable.

Why change one for another?. The hide feature is another thing, completely (well, sort of) different from the new collapse.
You can have both. The hide is useful for many things (like to hide all the mailing list I am subscribed to). The collapse works but in conjunction to hide will be more valuable.

The method of grouping does not do the trick like the old Mailwasher did. When I check new mail, the "-" button is switched back, so I would have to press "-" every time.
Please give us back the simple setting of "hide Friends' mails"!! You would make Mailwasher easier!
