I really enjoy my Xbox 360, as I’m sure many others do too
It pains me though when I read about their 360 units breaking, especially the dreaded Three Rings of Death....which sounds like something out of a J.R.R Tolkien book
Three Rings to rule them all, Three Rings to find them,
Three Rings to bring them all and in the darkness wreck my damn Xbox 360 turning it into a bloody massive paperweight
But I digress..
Today we received a disturbing report via SiteHound from a student in France who was studying (I believe) economics and was looking for a decent deal on an Xbox 360. After a week of contact via email and chat with the fadretail.com site, he believed they were trustworthy and also were offering the product at the right price. He proceeded to send them the 200 Euros, which equates to about half price, but then he suddenly stopped hearing from them and with no Xbox 360, no Euros, he’s completely out of pocket.
Now, upon closer inspection of this website, there are many bells that should be ringing.
- The website is registered to a person in China but hosted in the United States
- They offer no privacy policy
- They give Western Union prominent placement on the site (I don’t care what anyone else thinks, Western Union is a medium of evil)
- There is no actual shopping cart. Rather you just transfer the money
- A quick websearch on the domain name reveals some discouraging results
- The website itself is ugly and lame
Some of you may feel that these are reasons enough to avoid this kind of site entirely, but when the population of internet users don’t have the same education and instruction on such things, and especially considering this person was in contact with the website operators for over a week, some forgiveness for the mistake can be made. Even more so because it was an Xbox 360 involved, now you’ve really pushed my sympathy button.
Some people may suggest not to shop from overseas, but I can also understand shopping in other countries, I myself purchase many things from overseas...the New Zealand dollar is so high right now against the Yank, that’s just good economics.
OK, so at this point, we’ve got one dude, who’s been ripped off...and with a bit more digging around he probably could have avoided this.
So we looked into this further, and the website that was reported to us. The results were scary, not just the number of other sites out there, but also the diversity of the product they sell.
Here’s just a few other chinese sites that we believe have some kind of association with the same people who took poor Frenchy’s money. They are all very likely scams and will very likely rip you off.
And trust me when I say, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Hi blackjackpg I don't know
Hi blackjackpg
I don't know what options are available to get the money back, the general feeling on these kinds of scams seems to be that once the money is gone there is nothing you can do. However I'm going to try asking some questions and see if I can get any answers.
Can you tell me what method you used to pay for the items ?
Thanks
Chris
Hi Chris, Do you know of

Hi there
This is the first good news I've seen so far, so I'm very glad you were able to stop this before losing all the money.
Thanks for posting
Chris
is there any trustworthy
Yes, there are many
Yes, there are many trustworthy sites. But do research on them first.
For example, one site I purchase from myself is www.play-asia.com who I find excellent, both in terms of price and delivery. Obviously they don't seem quite as cheap as the scam sites, but when you will actually receive the goods you order, I think that's a small price to pay :)
Something about the deal
Wow....yes you would have.
I was conned out of $400 AUD
Hi there The first step
Hi there
The first step would be your local police, however given the scale and number of victims, it would be awesome if the Australian Federal Police got involved. Check out http://www.ahtcc.gov.au/tech_crimes_types/fraud.htm for more information on this.
Cheers
Huh... My coworker bought a

FFS......if only stupidity was painful.
Let's take a closer look at www.osdgm.com
A quick Google search on this website reveals some interesting posts.
This one here which (in Spanish) talks about a user being ripped off with a transaction involving a motorcycle.
And further discussion (still in Spanish) on it here
Then let's look at the date that www.osdgm.com was first registered.
http://whois.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?ip=osdgm.com
28th June 2007
Quick check on their website and it says....2000....huh...what ?
Let's try their listed phone number from the website then. Another quick Google search.
Nothing to worry about there, they only share this phone number with
www.fadretail.com
www.fairpdt.com
www.prevailshoes.com
www.wesob.com
www.voguedm.com
www.gleedw.com
www.dvivb.com
But then all those sites have different email address and Skype contacts, and Hotmail addresses too.
Let's also mention that the phone number listed in the Who Is results above is fake. not a typo. Fake.
tel: 86 010 12345678
In that Google search there was also a mention of the phone number here
http://www.fraudwatchers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7630&page=6
But again, what would fraudwatchers.org know about fraud.
Well then what about the payment options
Western Union.
Money Gram.
Direct Bank Transfer.
So what if none of these payment methods give the buyer any fraud protection
So then let's go back to the what you've said.
One person received one item, so suddenly they are legitimate ? Bullshit.
We've never heard of eBay users gettings their accounts hacked either have we.
Of course too you can't forge eBay feedback, I mean, just because there is over 1200 websites, that doesn't mean this is organized and have many people involved.
And lastly, one guy gets his $500 laptop sent, so then friends and family place orders that will probably come to several thousand dollars.
Sure most people don't go to the lengths I have to check out a site, but it shows with a little investigation how much you can find out. If you are still convinced this site is legit then by all means, order up large.

They are only trying to deceive you. I approved this comment to highlight the importance of doing your research, and to not believe anything you read. Also it gives you another reason to not trust the website http://www.huichuangtrading.com

Your local police should take the complaint, though typically they are dismissive. With some gentle persuasion you hopefully can get tehm to point you in the right direction.
