Suspend scheduled refresh

Wednesday 23rd of September 2009 4:38am

I'd like a quick and easy way to suspend the scheduled refreshing so that while I'm working my way through reviewing and acting on the messages in the grid, MW doesn't download a new batch of messages and sprinkle them all over my carefully-reviewed grid. Some sort of a toggle that changes the display enough that I can't forget I've done it, like maybe changing the "Check Mail" icon to a blinking "Suspended" icon. Another entry in the drop-down on the Check Mail icon would work for me as a way to engage the option - maybe with a check-mark toggle.

This is a possible alternative to the "Wash Reviewed" suggestion...

We don't think you'll need the suspend scheduled refresh as the new grid we're using takes much better control of itself and doesn't jump all over the place.

The ability to suspend the auto checking of new emails would be a godsend for users of dialup and other slower high-speed connections.

I can't tell you how many times that an extended download gets choked up and timed-out when MW kicks in to check the mail again. Also, I could be in the middle of an intensive operation that needs the full attention of the CPU, but it chokes or stalls during the MW auto checking in the background.

This could be done as a toggle entry in the sidebar of the check mail button, just have it toggle between Suspended and Automatic and recolor the icon or add an overlay to it when auto-checking is suspended.
