filter by email size

it would help many people to be able to filter email by the SIZE of the email, eg people on dialup or limited download accounts not wanting to receive large emails or emails with LARGE attachments

I have a moron friend who thinks nothing about sending me huge MP3s, videos or Powerpoint files out on his office T-1 line to my dialup email! A single email from him causes my dialup line to get clogged for hours, making it impossible for me to get any other emails from that account.

I would like to have a filter option that would allow me to flag and kill any email from a specified sender whose email is over xxx KB.

And another thing!

MW displays the email size as xxx kilobytes (i.e.: 12KB), but if the email is in the megabyte range, MW only shows "1MB". This should be shown as "1000KB" so it will stand out in the list, allowing me to immediately eyeball a candidate for deletion.

Perhaps there should also be a user-defined size alert that will flag it as an oversized email and/or shade the SIZE column box in pink.

This would have saved me from many instances of aggravation and subsequent email fights with some otherwise respectable people who turn into effing morons when sending or forwarding email!

This is a great suggestion and I am surprised that Firetrust haven't implemented this as a no-brainer already - these days many friends and relatives think nothing of sending huge jokey/media attachments out to all and sundry - it would be great to delete these before they get downloaded - how about also being able to also send a user-generated response back automatically - along the lines of "Oi Dickhead - think before you send me huge attachments !!!". PLEASE ADOPT THESE SUGGESTIONS FIRETRUST

I suggested this some years ago, and Firetrust thought it was a good idea, but wanted to wait for the new rewritten version before doing it. But I can't see they did anything. My original idea was some color code (ie RED for huge attachments), but the idea above just to display everything in kB instead of converting to MB would be good enough and much more simple!

the idea about filtering email by size and sender address should not be hard to implement, as in my opinion it would take between 5 and 30 lines of code, nomatter which language MW is written in, especially as the email size is already sortable in the display as well as being displayed
