ability to "wash" selected mails

Monday 20th of July 2009 10:13am

One of the things I would like is a "reviewed" flag on the grid ...

I often have 100 to 150 mails to review so I start to work down the list and according to the rules of murphy's law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murphy%27s_law) as soon as I get near the end of the list MWP does another fetch and sorts the new emails in amongst the ones I have already reviewed so now I have to start again.

Having a "reviewed" flag and an additional "wash reviewed" function would allow me to wash out the ones I have already reviewed leaving the ones I have not yet done .....

If Mailwasher could check multiple ( at least 2) pop accounts and launch separate e-mail programs for each differently
example one could Thunderbird for one and Outlook for the other this would be great
There could be split screen on check or a split process button to process just one account if a person did not want to check the other
This would be great for shopping or work e-mails to keep separate from the primary

And it's really frustrating when it happens (auto refresh interfering with my review). I wish there was a button to suspend auto refresh while I'm working...

(Mr Bill) why not just set 'Periodically check mail every' to a high number; I use 720.

This is the suggestion that would be the most helpful to me.

I have this same problem! I will be halfway through 100 emails and have to start all over. Not sure of the best solution, but it would be nice if additional mail comes in "under" some way what I am checking.

(Johno) I want it to check frequently once I deal with the morning accumulation, so I can keep up with what's coming in without having to remember to go check every 10 minutes. I just don't want to be interrupted while I'm actually reviewing the grid.

Or perhaps the ability to wash just one account would help (is this a separate suggestion?). Often my wife is sitting in the other room with her mouse poised over the "download" button in her mail client, waiting for me to finish reviewing 300 messages in MY account so I can "wash" everything.

If you click on the heading of the "Sent" column before you start checking, all the new mails will be at the top or bottom of the list.

Thanks Anonymous, I will try this! I also would like more wild card features because I have some spam mail that I absolutely cannot get rid of because they keep changing words to make different variations. I have reported them 5,000 times but they keep showing up! Except for this problem, I have really appreciated Mailwasher in a big way!

"wild card features"?
Is there any better "wild card feature" than Regular Expressions???

Why use two e-mail programs for Outlook when Thunderbird is free and allows you to read newsgroups with OpenPGP signing.

My work-around for this problem is to download my e-mail in smaller batches that I can handle in ten minute segments. Just press the "stop" button before MW finishes downloading all of the mail; for me this is around 150-200 e-mails, but you can stop with fewer. After I finish checking and processing the first batch of mail, I then download the next batch. Repeat until you're caught up.

Why not have a setting that allows for suspension of pulling down new mail while reviewiing mail? Those who don't get a lot of mail can leave it default as it is now while others like the orignal poster could declick a radio button and MW suspend pulling in new mail while the review window is open?
Sounds like something relatively easy to incorporate and much better than a cludgy workaround...
