Mail Groups

Friday 22nd of May 2009 4:08am

Outlook has the ability to create mail groups... a subset of the defined accounts. I would like to see this in MailWasher.

We have a lot of email accounts. We run a business with multiple online stores, each with their own set of addresses for their specific domain. I also have several personal addresses that I use for various purposes.

There are times that I would like to scan just my personal accounts; or only the business accounts; or only the accounts for a particular store. Yeah, I can do them one by one. But that's just so much clicking!

This is not a "gotta have in version 1", but it would be really really neat in a future release.

As a small business we have a number of individual email account that MW6.53 works very well for. However the generic email address is receiving up to 10000 junk emails per day which MW is deleting but storing in the recycle bin. This in itself is causing MW to suffer out of memory issues.
It would be good if you could customize so accounts like this do not store deleted mail in the recycle bin whereas other accounts are.

I would like to be able to pull mail from groupings of mail Accounts with a single click.

At present the options to download mail with a single click are limited to mail from one single mail Account, from the Default Accounts or from All Accounts. I request the provision of more groupings than just the Default Accounts group for single click retrieval.

If this suggestion is accepted, please do not prevent any one mail Account from being placed into more than one group.

Thanks for your consideration.

There's a 'Default Accounts' group which will only check those email accounts you've put into the Default group. It would be useful to be able to create several groups so you could check several associated accounts in one go. This would be useful for checking all accounts related to one website or project, for example, or for checking each person's account if more than one person shares the computer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I choose to check on new emails, the dropdown box of email accounts is not separated into default automatically checked accounts and manually checked accounts.

These should be separated into two groups or at least shaded/bolded/highlighted in some way, so I can more easily locate accounts that require manual checking.

Perhaps I could group them into automatic / daily / weekly / monthly categories as needed to be able to manage dozens of accounts that are either generally out-of-use or otherwise seldomly used.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Make two check boxes under each email account. Like this...
[ ] include this account in automatic mail checks, each X minutes
[ ] include this account in manual global mail checks

WHY:
I run multiple email accounts. During business hours I only want the automatic check pull in and alert me off business email. I could uncheck the 'include this account in default mail check' of my private or non-critical email accounts, but then I can not pull them all in in one go by manually clicking the 'Check Mail' button. I can only pull them in by checking for mail at each and every individual one. And that is clumsy.

Hope this helps.

This would be handy but I see several cases where it could cause problems depending on how it is done. The first issue is automatic mail checks adding mail from the default accounts back into the grid when you are looking at a different group. The ability to group by account or having a tab per mail account would both help with that.

A better approach would be to have the ability to define the groups and when one is selected clear the mail grid of any existing messages and have that group become the default set of accounts until it is changed by the user.
