MailWasher as an Outlook plug-in

Saturday 9th of May 2009 1:56pm

It would be nice to have MailWasher functionality as an Outlook plug-in. The mail and recycle bin could be kept in the same MW internal format, but appear as Outlook folders. When washing the mail, the "good stuff" could be moved into the Outlook inbox without having to retrieve it again.

It would be really convenient to have MW and Outlook in the same "box". I would expect this to be a separate product, of course.

I would disagree on integrating with Outlook. I have tried several other washers that integrated with Outlook and have found major fault with them. MW allows me to keep the junk from ever entering any of my mail folders, and it eliminates the possibility of any malicious emails from activating any malware by getting a toehold in my mail folders.

If MW automatically moved good emails to your Outlook, then be aware that you may very well inadvertently move some malware due to a misclick on blacklisting or friending.

And another thing, too: Microsoft has abandoned Outlook Express in Win7.

A plugin sounds nice, but only if the plugin prevents Outlook from downloading the messages until Mailwasher has given me opportunity to review them. I'm personally not interested in a plugin that processes messages after Outlook has retrieved them.

Have you looked at integrating "NeoPro" into the process?

It all works like a dream!

Mailwasher, processes then sends email into Neo=Pro which works in conjunction with Outlook (only works with Outlook, though, not Outlook Express).

My life would be a lot more complicated if I didn't work with these three utilities working hand-in-hand. Absolute MAGIC!

I agree with Bigdog, no plug-ins. Spamfighter uses this facility and it uses enornous bandwidth and downloads all the junk into your computer. Keep the Mailwasher philosophy and "ditch the bitch" before it's downloaded into your email client....

I think it would be nice just to have a Mailwasher button in Outlook just like the Outlook button in Mailwasher. That way I could go back and forth with much less effort.

I think it's a good idea but again, not actually receiving the e-mails first but sort them on the server first. I think it would be better to use one program for it all and not have to open and use mail-washer and then open and use outlook.
