Ability To Copy Existing Filter As A Template For A New Filter

Saturday 14th of March 2009 1:39pm

Having to start from scratch creating multiple similar but not identical filters is a real PITA. Another scenario is when a new need arises and the new filter only varies slightly (but enough to require a new filter) from an already existing filter you've written. If you could copy a previously created filter that was close to what you wanted for the new filter and then modify it as necessary for your new use, it would save a whole lot of time and reduce the number of errors in those newly created filters.

I use Outlook Express and have used the message rules function to separate emails from many accounts into separate folders.

OEX allows for copying a selected rule, which makes for simple editing to fit my intended purpose. It would have been a bear to have to create all of the rules from scratch for each email account.

I also have repeatedly wanted this functionality. Yes, please!

I have 145 filters and most of them are using the possibility of 10 different rules. Not being able to convert the old filter into the new program is a big big headache and to my judging a real step backward. Sorry but with this inablility the new Mailwasher program is no longer the perfect companion and the most ideal cleaning program. Please work hard on finding a solution.
