No we don't hate women

Recently we received this email.

I noticed today while downloading the update (thanks very much) that all the satisfied customers whose comments are reported appear to be men. And I was put off by one man's praise of your product by saying it could even be used by his "technophobe girlfriend." Not all females are technophobes, not all men are savvy about technical questions.
I think you would do your marketing a service by taking a look at your website with a pair of gender glasses, to catch the misogyny and eliminate

New beta versions of SiteHound

We have done a lot of work on SiteHound lately, so here's some new beta versions to have a play with.

My favourite new word is 'common sense'

This video clip is gold. It’s not jewel encrusted and be the kind of gold that will make the women in your life happy. Nor will it give you pleasure to look at it, in all of its sparkly glory.

A complaint to our governments

Here's a YouTube video from Nick in the UK.

Ravings of a lunatic or a great effort in trying to get the filth mongers politicians to take notice, I'll let you decide. I know the New Zealand Police are massively under resourced to investigate and respond to eCrime. Sure, they can do computer forensics with serious crimes such as murder and so on....but when it comes to Internet Fraud, well....let's just say I wouldn't want to be a victim in New Zealand right now.

So, you wanna deal with a website in China

Since posting the big ass list of websites that we think are very dodgy, we’ve drawn a crapload of comments from..... <Christopher !! – Stop Swearing !!!> ......<Sorry Mum>.....sigh.....

Do not trust those adverts

I have this friend.....I dunno, let’s say his name is.....Bart. Now Bart is a smart guy, but when he bought his first computer a while back, he wasn’t what I would call ‘internet savvy’. Don’t get me wrong, he could use the computer and internet, he could check his emails, he could browse websites, selling and buying stuff online. All the sorts of things that you would expect a home computer to be used for, it was.

FraudWatchers back from the dead

Earlier I posted that www.fraudwatchers.org had made the decision to stay offline permanently due to a significant DDoS attack they had suffered. This is what the administration team were saying.

End of FraudWatchers

Since the end of August/start of September a number of websites have been under denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. The common theme among these websites is that they are run by volunteers trying to make the internet a better place, and reduce or create awareness about the threat of online criminal activity.

I am a God ?

Or at least I think I am.....apparently....so says Spanky McLovin. Though they didn't leave a proper name that I could see, so I just made that up.

For those that aren't aware, this comment was made in response to this list

Enjoy.

Do you think you are the god, Chirs?

Anatomy of a Chinese scam

<Update 13th December>

Further to the information below, which you should read, because it took me ages. There is also a supplemental post here that relates to dealing with websites in China
